Duo Esperanza was founded in 2017.  After eight years together within the Fagotiky quartet, Denisa Beňovská and Michaela Špačková established this current ensemble which aims to promote and spotlight the bassoon as a solo instrument. Both in the context of solo and chamber, the duo has won many prestigious awards and prizes.

In addition, Esperanza has a close collaboration with renowned bassoonist and conductor Pascal Gallois.

Performing solo recitals or with an accompaniment of string ensembles (Barocco sempre giovane, Vivaldi Collegium Prag, Gadrew way and others) the duo performs across Europe including Czech Republic, Spain and France.

Michaela Špačková was born in Prague (Czech Republic) in 1993. She is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin with Prof. Volker Tesmann. She made her orchestral debut at the age of 17 with PKF – Prague Philharmonia. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist with Czech Philharmonic, Symphonic Orchestra Prague FOK, ORF – Vienna Radio Orchestra, Brno Philharmonic, Opole Philharmonic and others. She has won numerous awards from national and international competitions including Prague Spring Competition, the Carl Maria von Weber Competition, Circolo Cameristico Piemontese, “Città di Chieri”, Concertino Praga, Markneukirchen Competition and others. She was a member of the Orchestral Academy in the Czech Philharmonic, Prague Philharmonia and the European Union Youth Orchestra – EUYO. She performs as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician with various orchestras across Europe and has taken part in several international music festivals.

Denisa Beňovská was born in 1992 into an artistic family in Bratislava (Slovakia). She graduated from the Prague Conservatory as a soloist with famous czech Talich Philharmony. In 2017 she began her studies at “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University for Music and Theater” in Leipzig (GE), where she currently studies her Master degree with professor Jörg Michael Thomé. She has been a laureate at the LFA 2015 Competition in Rataje nad Sázavou and she has also performed with a lot of Czech orchestras, including the Prague Chamber Orchestra, Prague Philharmony, Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

In season 2019/2020 she was a member of Czech Radio Symphonic orchestra as a fisrt bassoonist. Nowadays she cooperate with Slovak philharmony. With her chamber music groups she has been awarded several prizes. Kalabis quintet obtained two first prizes at ISA Competition of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna (2014), 3.prize at the Henri Tomasi International Woodwind Quintet Competition in France (2015), 1.prize at Karel Dittersdorf Competition, Vidnava Czech rep. ,3.prize at Bucharest International Music competition (2019). In 2018 she represented in semi-final in Chieri competition in Italy and in 2019 in ARD Münich competition.

In season 2017/18 she was a holder of Deutschland Stipendium, and Yehudi Menuhin Stipendium. Currently, she has got a financial support from VTR Foundation. From 2017 she is a part of her favourite project Duo Esperanza with Michaela Špačková and they are performing in Czech republic, France, Spain, Germany and Turkey. Denisa is regularly performing as a soloist with string-orchestras in Czech, Barocco sempre giovane, Vivaldi Collegium Prague, Gadrew Way, Prague Conservatory Baroque Orchestra etc. She is regulary teaching at international summer academy ,,Premiere Music College” in Prague. As a guest she had performances in festival Clarimania in Poland or in Afyon-Karahisar festival in Turkey.
